W.E.E. See You...: You Cannot Eat “Everbody’s Cooking.”

  • CraigHickman · 1 month ago
"I don't eat everybody's food," rolls off of my lips on the regular.

Sepia, potato salad was the first thing I thought of.
  • Webb · 1 month ago
    Hey Craig! It's Good 2 See U! W.E.E. can't eat everybody's cooking.

Thanks for droppin in! BTW, Shanti and I are working on health threads related to AA eating habits and the dangers of excess sodium.

You gave us some great suggestions for how to better prepare "greens" back at the old crib...would love your feedback, suggestions and maybe even a crosspost with Fumbling Toward Divinity.

    Hi CraigHickman. Welcome to WSY!

You would agree that mayonaise and mustard aren't the only ingredients of concern?

Hey Craig. Welcome to the site. Hope you come by to see us again.

I love the Boondocks! That clip presented an interesting analogy.

I use to hate having pot lucks at work, because some of the people who would bring food, were the same folks who wouldn't wash their hands after using the bathroom.
  • Webb · 1 month ago
Me too! Some of the folks would bring stuff and you'd stare at it for 55 minutes trying to figure out just exactly what it was.

Then it might be a dish that the spouse of your colleague prepared and they'd be pushing that shyt on you, "Have a taste, Webb."

I broke my mother's rule one time....NEVER AGAIN! NO THANK YOU.
  • Shanti2 · 1 month ago
It's tempting, you know, you don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, so you take a taste, and swallow. The shit doesn't go down easy, but you fake it anyway.

Until the next time someone tries to feed you shit, you know better, but somehow, you taste it again, hoping the shit will go down a lil easier this time around.

You tell yourself it wasn't so bad, and the next thing you know, you're in. You swallow the same ole shit and now it's really starting to taste good....
  • Webb · 1 month ago
You swallow the same ole shit and now it's really starting to taste good....

LMAO, You see that's what happened to Michael Steele and Clarence Thomas.
  • Miranda · 1 month ago
hence my dilemma in a week when I have to hurt some feelings by bypassing anything that isn't store-bought at the "Thanksgiving potluck".....LOL
  • Webb · 1 month ago
    LMAO--can't trust it!
  • Shanti2 · 1 month ago
Aint that some shit. And they wonder how they get sick. It's the same as feeding off dirty, ugly, nasty information. It becomes poisonous to one's psyche.
  • Sepia · 1 month ago
Okay, be honest and raise your hand if you looked at the title of this thread and immediately thought of potato salad.

    *raises hand*
  • Audiegrl · 1 month ago
I thought of that casserole my mother-in-law used to make with the peas and tater tots. LOL

    Bless her heart. :-)
  • SouthernGirl2 · 1 month ago

  • SouthernGirl2 · 1 month ago
    You got it!
  • Shanti2 · 1 month ago
Brilliant Boondocks clip. If we see Missy Jane over here on WSY, Imma take the emesis basin and whack her one!
  • Webb · 1 month ago
LOL, we all will need the basin.
  • Shanti2 · 1 month ago
Webb, your mother taught you truth, and so did mine.

My grandmother taught us the same. She used to tell us, Chile, you don't know folks habits.

You don't know if folks wash themselves before they prepare the food.

You don't know their thoughts, their ntentions.

You don't know where they buy their food.

The food might look, smell, and taste good, but mind what you eat, how much you eat, and how often you eat from folks, especially when you don't know their habits......
  • Webb · 1 month ago
    Amen to that!

And you also don't know about their pets. My mom would never eat at a certain Aunt's house, because she saw the cats on the kitchen countertop...She'd say, "I'm not eating any of her cooking, cats been sitting their nasty rumps in all the pots and pans!"

    LMAO, please forgive me MsKitty.

    Webb:

I was in the mood for reconciliation. I was moved by Jack's response today. But, Jane Hamsher is poison. She is rotten and foul to the core. Any friend of Jane Hamsher can not be a friend of mine. I've let go of a lot of friendships that didn't serve me well. Especially white liberals who thought I was "special and different" and, at the same time, talked harshly about other black folks, "why can't they be like you?"

I let those people go. They forced me to choose, and I chose to be black first. I owe that to my ancestors. I owe that to my 79 year old father who voted for the first time in 2008. I will not let Jane Hamsher drag down his hope, excitement and dreams. I owe it to my aunts in Norfolk, Virginia who stood in line for eight hours in the rain waiting to vote for Obama. I will not let Jane Hamsher ruin that moment for them, or distort the accomplishments of the man they voted for.

JJP chose Hamsher and Huffington. We chose our ancestors. We know that the change is hard and the battles are fierce. We know that! White people can post things about " the ten things Obama did wrong on healthcare." They've had it easy; they thought that it was a given that their wishes would easily be enacted into law.

When JJP posted that shit, I was through. Blacks folks are struggling in this economy, but I hear hope! I hear folks talking about more opportunity than they have had in years if they can just put the foot forward to go to community college and retrain, or just learn about what all this green economy stuff means.

I am proud to death of our President. And I am honored to have been accepted into the WeeSeeYou community.

Dayum Alex, you got my eyes watering.

I'm proud of our entire WSY family--you weren't accepted into this community--YOU ARE A FOUNDER OF THIS COMMUNITY.

I'm not Webb, but I FEEL YOU, Alex. My 85 year old dad called me election day and told me he was the first one to vote in his district. I WEPT tears of joy. He never thought he'd see the day he could vote for a black man and see him win the presidency.

I have black brothers and a black husband. I love black men, black people, and I'll be damned if I will tolerate the bullshit from white liberals trying to tear down President Obama. fuck that that!

WEE Welcome and Honor you, Alexander2. Please post more. We love you...

Amen Shanti--the sacrifices made by our forefathers are too great for us to sit idly by and WATCH OTHERS undermine our own people.
  • WordSmith · 1 month ago
I'll say just one thing - when making reference to anyone's forefathers, I think the ones that REALLY need referencing are the FOREMOTHERS.... because without their strength and tenacity, NO ONE would be here - PERIOD. Please....
  • Shanti2 · 1 month ago
Feeling you, Word. The Mamas & The Papas!
  • WordSmith · 1 month ago
Oh fer crying out loud! LMAO...

It took me a sec to get it - I was expecting "California Dreamin'" or something.

Just a gentle reminder, Webb, is all.

    Well said.

LOL, not mad at your or your Mom. I always keep a supply of disinfecting wipes on hand so my guests don't have to worry about having kitty cooties in their food.
  • Webb · 1 month ago
Oh, I know you're fastidious about it b/c scorpios don't like unnecessary "mess."
